Eligibility Information

A student is eligible to participate in TRIO Student Support project if the student meets all of the following requirements:
Citizenship Status *

Eligibility Part 1: Parent/Guardian Education Completion

We are required to collect information about the highest level of education your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) has/have completed. This helps us determine if you qualify for TRIO SSS as a first-generation college student.

We will ask you about two parents/guardians. If you are unable to provide information about a second parent/guardian, you can select N/A for Parent/Guardian 2.

Eligibility Part 2: Disability Status

Students with a documented disability (physical, cognitive, developmental, mental health or learning disorders) are eligible to participate in TRIO SSS.

In order to qualify for TRIO SSS based on disability, a student will need to meet with the Director of Accessibility and be eligible to receive accommodations. TRIO staff do not have access to any diagnoses. We confirm with the Director that a student is eligible to receive accommodations only. All other data concerning the student's disability remains private.

Eligibility Part 3: Required Income Verification

All prospective students are required to complete the Income Verification Form. This is how we determine if you meet our income guidelines (Federal TRIO Programs Current-Year Low-Income Levels | U.S. Department of Education). We will email you the link to the income verification form once we receive your application. If you are a DEPENDENT student, a parent/guardian is required to complete this form on your behalf.

The income verification form is a mandatory part of your TRIO SSS application. Your application will NOT be processed until you (or your parent/guardian) complete the Income Verification Form. If you aren't sure about your dependency status, visit the Federal Student Aid website.

Commitment to Participate

I understand that I have applying for the opportunity to participate in the Inver Hills Community College TRIO Student Support Services program. I understand that if I am to receive services from this program, I must accept the following responsibilities are as program participant:

  • To show academic progress towards my educational goals;
  • To meet with my TRIO advisor at least ONCE (1) a month;
  • Participate in at least THREE (3) TRIO-sponsored event/workshop/activity each semester;
  • To utilize any and all resources available to improve my college and personal success

Data Privacy Agreement

 Inver Hills TRIO Student Support Services program is asking you to provide information that includes private and/or confidential information under state and federal law so we can process your application. You are not legally required to provide the information we are requesting, however we may not be able to process your application if you do not provide sufficient information. With some exceptions, unless you consent to further release of private information, access to this information will be limited to school officials who have legitimate educational interests in the information. Under certain circumstances, federal and state laws authorize release of private information without your consent to federal, state or local officials for purposes of program compliance, audit or evaluation; as appropriate in connection with your application for, or receipt of, financial aid; to your parents, if your parents claim you as a dependent student for tax purposes if the information is sought with a subpoena, court order, or determine that it is necessary to collect information relevant to your participation in the program from outside sources and other college departments. The information collected will be used solely for the purpose of your participation in the TRIO Student Support Services.

Photo Release

I understand that Inver Hills TRIO SSS Program may take photographs of program participants at TRIO events. I agree that Inver Hills TRIO SSS Program shall be the owner of and may use such photographs to promote TRIO SSS and future events. (If you wish to not agree, once accepted, please discuss this specifically with your TRIO Advisor so we can note it). 

I release the staff of TRIO SSS from all legal responsibilities on liability that may arise from the actions I authorized.  

Records Release

I understand that by applying for TRIO Student Support Services program I authorize Student Support Services staff to obtain records or data pertaining to my successful participation from other sources (e.g. Academic Records, Financial Aid, Academic Advisors, Center for Accessibility Resources, etc.). Furthermore, I understand that information may be released as required by law or as requested from the U.S. Department of Education.
